This is the source code of REDB (Regular Expression Database). This
document should explain all steps necessary to run and use REDB on any
machine capable of doing so.

* Building and Running

  Assuming =go= (developed and tested with version 1.6 on linux) has
  is already installed, all that is left to do is typing =go get= to
  fetch the external libraries, followed by =go build= to create the
  local binary.
  
  This binary should be executed from within the directory it was
  built in, ie. the same on this =README= file should be in too. This is
  fe. due to go reading the html templates every time when starting.
  
  The last step is to define the =$redb_conn= environmental variable,
  used to establish a connection to a PostgreSQL (min. version 9.5)
  database, with appropriate permissions to read and write tables,
  entries, etc.
  
* Project structure
  
  To help with navigating the project, now follows a short summery of
  files and directories:
  
  - =/= :: Project root (not system root)
  - =README= :: This file
  - =/main.go= :: Defines the start-up procedure, including the ReGeX game
                  server and the HTTP server
  - =/model.go= :: All conceptual models within the project are described here
  - =/db.go= :: Prepares all database statements and creates tables if necessary
  - =/game.go= :: Implements the ReGeX game server used by REDB
  - =/routes.go= :: Prepares all templates and libravatar related functions
  - =/index.go= :: Processes requests to display a list of tasks
  - =/contrib.go= :: Offers an interface and method to submit tasks (captcha validated)
  - =/search.go= ::  Offers an interface and method to find certain requests
  - =/show.go= :: Displays all information in connection to a task
  - =/css/style.css= :: All style-sheet information required to render the page
  - =/html/= :: Directory with all go html templates
  - =/html/head.gtml= :: Contains common HTML <head>
  - =/html/header.gtml= :: Contains common HTML <header>
  - =/html/footer.gtml= :: Contains common HTML <footer>
  - =/html/about.gtml= :: The "about" page source
  - =/html/show.gtml= :: HTML front end for =show.go=
  - =/html/index.gtml= :: HTML front end for =index.go=
  - =/html/search.gtml= :: HTML front end for =search.go=
  - =/html/contrib.gtml= :: HTML front end for =contrib.go=
  - =/html/list.gtml= :: Generates a list of challenges, used by index and search
  - =/html/error.gtml= :: General page for error messages
  - =/img/= :: All images used by the server
	       
  Files not mentioned here, should be self evident, or have been
  forgotten.
  
* The ReGeX game server protocol
  
  The protocol is simple and line-oriented; the first character,
  always followed by a simple white-space character, indicates what
  the client should do. The following options exist:
  
  - =:= :: Enter the maximal level of the challenge
	   (ie. an int) you wish to revive. The protocol makes no
	   guarantees on whether this wish will be respected nor to
	   what degree it will try and find a sufficiently fit task.
	   
	   If it is known that the server ignores this wish, you still
	   have to enter a number, for the sake of compatibility,
	   fe. 0
	   
	   Negative numbers are reserved for server specific control
	   commands.
	   
  - =@= :: The server may output trivial information,
	    such as server information (uptime, task count, connection
	   count, ...) or status updates (task solved
	   (un-)successfully, task ID/level, ...). These lines do not
	   have to be processed by a client.
  
	    By custom the first line after the client connects to the
	   server starts with a "@".  Here the server offers a short
	   introduction, fe. including name, version and/or owner.
  
  - =!= :: In the case of a severe error (database/
	   connection broken, EOS, ...) the server informs the client
	   appropriately. Such messages should not, and often cannot,
	   be ignored, but should be processed and dealt with by the
	   client.
  
	   It is not uncommon for the connection to terminate after
	   such a message.
  
  - =+=, =-= :: Both these lines server a similar purpose.
		After requesting a task (see ":" prompt), the words to
		(followed by =+=) and not to match (followed by =-=)
		are listed.
  
  - =>= :: The previous list is known to have ended,
	   as soon as this prompt is parsed. It indicated that the
	   server is now listening for a suggestion to solve the task.
  
	  The input is read into until the new line.
  
  Any delay between lines, should not be interpreted as the server
  misbehaving (all misbehaviour should be indicated by a "!"
  message), but should be assumed to be on purpose. Reasons could
  either be a short latency due to high database traffic or even the
  intentional act of the server to punish the client (session or IP
  address) for any timespan.
