Gobis-server

Create a gobis server based on a config file.

The standalone server will make available all middlewares you can found in gobis-middlewares

Note: To enable them in your route see parameters to set on each ones

Installation

go get github/orange-cloudfoundry/gobis-server

If you set your PATH with $GOPATH/bin/ you should have now a gobis-server binary available, this is the standalone server.

Commands

NAME:
   gobis-server - Create a gobis server based on a config file

USAGE:
   gobis-server [global options] command [command options] [arguments...]

VERSION:

COMMANDS:
     help, h  Shows a list of commands or help for one command

GLOBAL OPTIONS:
   --config-path value, -c value              Path to the config file (This file will not be used in a cloud env like Cloud Foundry, Heroku or kubernetes) (default: "config.yml") [$CONFIG_FILE]
   --cert value                               Path to a cert file or a cert content to enable https server (default: "server.crt")
   --key value                                Path to a key file or a key content to enable https server (default: "server.key")
   --log-level value, -l value                Log level to use
   --log-json, -j                             Write log in json
   --sidecar, -s                              Run server as a sidecar, you can use sidecar-env to force sidecar env detection
   --sidecar-env value                        Must be use with --sidecar, this permit to force sidecar env detection
   --no-color                                 Logger will not display colors
   --lets-encrypt-domains value, --led value  If set server will use a certificate generated with let's encrypt, value should be your domain(s) (e.g.: --lets-encrypt=example.com[,seconddomain.com]). Host and port will be overwritten to use 0.0.0.0:443
   --help, -h                                 show help
   --version, -v                              print the version

Usage

There is two different usage:

  1. In local
  2. In a cloud through gautocloud (Run with ease gobis on: Kubernetes, CloudFoundry or Heroku)
In local
  1. Create a config.yml file where you want to run your server, following this schema:

Note: If a gobis config file exists routes, protected headers, start path and host will be merged against the service configuration.

  1. Create a cups service named .*gobis-config with the same credentials set in yaml, example:

  1. Bind it to your gobis instance

You can either create a configuration to make your app be used as a route service, this how to to do this.

Your configuration should use forwarded_header set to X-CF-Forwarded-Url.

Url can be omitted but if you set it to the cloud foundry route where you want to redirect it will possible to create multiple gobis routes for different cloud foundry app.

Example of configuration:

you can now create an user provided route service (cf cups to-gobis -r https://gobis.external.domain.cf) and bind it to your app route which will be under gobis (cf bind-route-service external.domain.cf to-gobis --hostname my_cf_app_under_gobis)

On Heroku or Kubernetes
  1. Create an env var or service named .*CONFIG where you put your configuration in json, example:

Sidecar

Gobis-server can be used as a sidecar in a container. This actually mean that it will receive all traffic in front of another web app and will reverse to this app. Sidecar intentionally force to have one route and redirect everything to app beside. To do so simply run with --sidecar argument, this will auto-detect your environment. You can chose yourself environment by using argument --sidecar-env

Supported environment:

  • cloudfoundry

Cloud Foundry

Cloud Foundry sidecar expect to be loaded in his own buildpack. We will explain here only lifecycle.

Sidecar expect to find route.yml file in working directory with this content for one route and url, name and path can be omitted (it will override if set), e.g.:

Gobis-server config can be set with normal config file.

Sidecar will do the following:

  1. Load .gobis/route.yml file and add only this route to gobis (name will be configured as proxy-<app-name> and path will be /**)
  2. Look for all files named as follow .gobis/*-params.yml and load them as middleware params to be injected in route.
  3. Get from env var GOBIS_PORT to know where app should listen
  4. Create route url to http://127.0.0.1:<previous found port>
  5. Look in Procfile if key start is found. Content is the custom command for real app that user want to override
  6. Run default launcher from cloud foundry with start command given by user if exists to start real app with PORT env var override to previous found port
  7. Gobis-server will listening on port expected by cloud foundry and will reverse traffic to app beside
