README

Keptn CLI

The keptn cli is a command line interface for running commands against a Keptn installation.

Development

Using Go 1.12 (or newer), ensure that you have GO Modules enabled by executing

export GO111MODULE=on

You can build the CLI using

go build -o keptn

You can execute unit tests using

go test ./...

If you want to make sure tests don't influence your local environment (or vice versa), you can run them in a container:

docker run --rm -it -v "$PWD":/usr/src/myapp -w /usr/src/myapp golang:1.13 go test -race -v ./...
Structure

The cli consists of

  • the entrypoint defined in main.go,
  • the root command defined in cmd/root.go,
  • all the other commands defined in the cmd/ folder, and
  • some utility and helper functions in the pkg/ folder.

Usage

Use the following syntax to run Keptn commands from your terminal window:

keptn [command] [entity] [name] [flags]

where command, entity, name, and flags are:

  • command: Specifies the operation that you want to perform, such as, install, create, send.

  • entity: Specifies the entity type. For example, the following commands run a create operation on the project and service entities:

    keptn create project
    keptn create service

  • name: Specifies the name of the entity. Names are case-sensitive.

  • flags: Specifies additional parameters and flags the command requires.

If you need help, just run keptn --help help from the terminal window.

The following table includes short descriptions and the general syntax for all of the keptn operations:
