Requirements
Google Analytics Beat specific configuration options

: The period at which the google analytics metrics will be fetched.

:(mandatory) The View ID of the Google Analytics View

: (mandatory) The starting date for Google Analytics Data in format YYYY-MM-DD

: (mandatory) The metrics list in comma separated values ga:sessions,ga:users,ga:pageviews,ga:bounceRate

: The dimensions list in comma separated values ga:eventCategory, ga:eventLabel

: (mandatory) The timezone which the Google Analytics View is configured America/Bogota

: Number of records fetched per request from Google Analytics API, defaults to 1000

: The type of storage for the state file, either disk
or s3
, which keeps track of the current progress. (Default: disk)

Using S3 Storage for state file
For ganalyticsbeat, it's probably best to create a seperate IAM user account, without a password and only this sample policy file. Best to limit the access of your user as a security practice.
Below is a sample of what the policy file would look like for the S3 storage. Please note you should replace my-ganalyticsbeat-bucket-name
with your bucket name that you've created in S3.

Init Project
To get running with Ganalyticsbeat and also install the
dependencies, run the following command:
make setup
It will create a clean git history for each major step. Note that you can always rewrite the history if you wish before pushing your changes.
To push Ganalyticsbeat in the git repository, run the following commands:
git remote set-url origin https://github.com/jsalcedo09/ganalyticsbeat
git push origin master

Build
To build the binary for Ganalyticsbeat run the command below. This will generate a binary
in the same directory with the name ganalyticsbeat.
make
Run
To run Ganalyticsbeat with debugging output enabled, run:
./ganalyticsbeat -c ganalyticsbeat.yml -e -d "*"
Test
To test Ganalyticsbeat, run the following command:
make testsuite
alternatively:
make unit-tests
make system-tests
make integration-tests
make coverage-report
The test coverage is reported in the folder ./build/coverage/
Update
Each beat has a template for the mapping in elasticsearch and a documentation for the fields
which is automatically generated based on etc/fields.yml
.
To generate etc/ganalyticsbeat.template.json and etc/ganalyticsbeat.asciidoc
make update
Cleanup
To clean Ganalyticsbeat source code, run the following commands:
make fmt
make simplify
To clean up the build directory and generated artifacts, run:
make clean
Clone
To clone Ganalyticsbeat from the git repository, run the following commands:
mkdir -p ${GOPATH}/github.com/jsalcedo09
cd ${GOPATH}/github.com/jsalcedo09

Packaging
The beat frameworks provides tools to crosscompile and package your beat for different platforms. This requires docker and vendoring as described above. To build packages of your beat, run the following command:
make package
This will fetch and create all images required for the build process. The hole process to finish can take several minutes.
