Requirements
Building The Provider
Clone repository to: $GOPATH/src/github.com/terraform-providers/terraform-provider-azurerm
$ mkdir -p $GOPATH/src/github.com/terraform-providers; cd $GOPATH/src/github.com/terraform-providers
$ git clone git@github.com:terraform-providers/terraform-provider-azurerm
Enter the provider directory and build the provider
$ cd $GOPATH/src/github.com/terraform-providers/terraform-provider-azurerm
$ make build
Using the provider
# Configure the Microsoft Azure Provider
provider "azurerm" {
subscription_id = "..."
client_id = "..."
client_secret = "..."
tenant_id = "..."
}
# Create a resource group
resource "azurerm_resource_group" "production" {
name = "production"
location = "West US"
}
# Create a virtual network in the web_servers resource group
resource "azurerm_virtual_network" "network" {
name = "productionNetwork"
address_space = ["10.0.0.0/16"]
location = "West US"
resource_group_name = "${azurerm_resource_group.production.name}"
subnet {
name = "subnet1"
address_prefix = "10.0.1.0/24"
}
subnet {
name = "subnet2"
address_prefix = "10.0.2.0/24"
}
subnet {
name = "subnet3"
address_prefix = "10.0.3.0/24"
}
}
Further usage documentation is available on the Terraform website.
Developing the Provider
If you wish to work on the provider, you'll first need Go installed on your machine (version 1.9+ is required). You'll also need to correctly setup a GOPATH, as well as adding $GOPATH/bin
to your $PATH
.
To compile the provider, run make build
. This will build the provider and put the provider binary in the $GOPATH/bin
directory.
$ make build
...
$ $GOPATH/bin/terraform-provider-azurerm
...
In order to test the provider, you can simply run make test
.
$ make test
In order to run the full suite of Acceptance tests, run make testacc
.
Note: Acceptance tests create real resources, and often cost money to run.
$ make testacc
