Virt-handler can be started through docker with

docker run \
    --rm \
    --volume=/var/run/libvirt/libvirt-sock:/var/run/libvirt/libvirt-sock:Z \
    --detach=false \
    kubevirt/virt-handler:latest

On bare metal run

./virt-handler
