Bevo

Bevo is the Slavic goddess of knowledge, mastery, exploration, and the earth.

Concept

Many individual geological databases have been built up over the years. Often these databases are made unique for each institution, require lots of javascript, run in outdated PHP, and many other problems that make searching and obtaining useful information a chore.

While getting the data will never be a fun experience, allowing for streamlining and ease of access of publicly available data is important for everyone.

Major improvements to this database over previous implementations include:

• Elastic Search
• Multi-institution compiling of data and cross-referencing data
• Auto-updating search index based on already existing databases

These changes allow for finding the right sample you want and then seeing if an institution you have easy access to include it in their collection. This can also make it easier to find a replacement sample if one is out on loan.
