nihongo-no-yobi

This is a very simple program that will display the current date in Japanese. Useful for those who are willing to learn the language and they want to practice.

Installation

This will strip the binary generated (more on the linker flags here)

go install -ldflags="-s -w" codeberg.org/ChromaMaster/nihongo-no-yobi@latest

Example

By default the date will be displayed in hiragana, although it can be also displayed in katakana or kanji.

λ ./nihongo-no-yobi
きょうはもくようび、むいか にがつ。

λ ./nihongo-no-yobi katakana
キョウはモクヨウビ、ムイカ ニガツ。

λ ./nihongo-no-yobi kanji
今日は木曜日、六日 二月。

If you wish, spanish or english translations can also be displayed.

λ ./nihongo-no-yobi --spanish --english kanji
Hoy es Jueves, 6 de Febrero
Today is Thursday, 6th of February
今日は木曜日、六日 二月。

Lastly, to practice Japanese reading, romaji representation is also available

λ ./nihongo-no-yobi --romaji
